New Castle Physical Therapy is pleased to offer Telehealth physical therapy sessions. Your physical therapist will take a medical history, perform a movement examination and guide you through exercises, stretches and other self care techniques. Your physical therapist will also provide education in lifestyle adaptations to help alleviate symptoms. This care can be accessed through your phone, computer or tablet. We believe a physical therapy program is only as effective as the patient's home program and lifestyle modifications. Viewing patients in their home environment allows physical therapists to adapt treatment and change the way patients interact with their home environment and instill good habits. This includes finding places to regularly stretch, balance and assessing a home work space.
After a knee replacement with several complications, I was dependent on my visits to Angela at New Castle Physical Therapy, and concerned for my future lack of mobility when they were forced to close. When I was offered the opportunity to schedule Telehealth sessions, to be honest, I was skeptical Instead, I have found these sessions to be incredibly productive and invaluable in contributing to my recovery. Angela is able to see and correct my form, introduce new exercises as needed and give feedback as necessary. I have made great progress these last weeks and although I miss the in-person contact, I am confident that that my recovery has not been impeded. Thank you, NCPT! - Mikki Shaw
If you're in need of personal training, physical therapy or rehab right now, a perfect solution is a tele-health video session with Matt Marucci at New Castle Physical Therapy. Feeling a recurring injury in my back coming on, I emailed Matt to see what he could do. He suggested a live session (we used Zoom) and it was honestly almost as good as being there in person.
Matt was recommended to me by a friend a few years ago and he's smart, attentive, fun to work with and, overall, just amazing -- not only at helping you to develop a program that avoids injury(or re-injury) but also for working with you as a trainer, to enhance and add to anything you're already doing At our session, Matt saw what we have in our house and creatively helped me to come up with a routine that replicates everything I'd been doing before (when I could leave the house)! (Who knew a metal railing could be used to hold a long rubber band, so that I could do exercises I thought I could only do at the gym?)
Whether by Zoom, Facetime, or in person, there's no one I've found who is as expert as Matt. He's also a great trainer, if you simply want to make sure you've got a really efficient workout regimen. - Marlene Glazer
Like the owner of many small businesses, I have been feeling the stress of these difficult times, and for me that has meant spending a lot more time at my computer or on my couch! In doing so, I started developing insomnia and back pain in particular. Over the last month, Caron has worked with me via video sessions on a series of gentle but effective stretches that have helped with such things as expanding my rib cage and strengthening my core and different key muscles. She also has a very kind and non judgmental demeanor which makes the sessions something I sincerely look forward to. I’d highly recommend working with Caron and New Castle Physical Therapy to anyone! - Grace Bennett
I can't begin to express my gratitude for Brian Kiger and his dedication to my recovery from ACL repair surgery. Brian has been with me, literally, every step of the way. Before my surgery, I couldn't have imagined being able to legitimately participate in PT via video conference but Brian's expertise and compassion come through during every encounter. He has made a really difficult and overwhelming situation manageable through his confidence, knowledge and sense of humor. I feel truly blessed to be working with him. - Danielle Weisberg, Briarcliff Manor
My aching back didn’t take a time out while sheltering in place! And as such, I was thrilled to discover that New Castle PT is offering telemedicine PT visits. Not knowing what to expect, the one hour sessions with Laura Marucci, physical therapist, have exceeded my expectations. Laura conducted an assessment, demonstrated exercises for me to try, observed me and made necessary corrections. Her caring manner, professionalism and concise directions have made my tailor made sessions easy to follow. As a follow up to each session, I receive an email which contains a summary and easy to follow diagrams of the exercises I need to work on. I am delighted with my progress! - SB
I met Matt 10 years ago when I needed PT after a hip replacement. Since then, Matt has been my trainer, and I have benefited greatly from his expertise. I was dismayed when NCPT had to close because of the pandemic. I called to ask Matt to help me continue my training somehow. He suggested that we resume our relationship through Telehealth sessions. I was skeptical initially, but I have been really pleased with the way it has worked out. All I needed was a yoga mat, a couple of weights, a ball and 2 elastic bands. Surprisingly, having Matt in real time on my iPad is almost as good as being there in his studio. We are resuming our weekly sessions, and one piece of my life is back to normal. - Bryna Sweedler
I was a patient at New Castle Physical Therapy, working with Caron DuBois, before the pandemic began locally. For several weeks, I went without physical therapy because I am in a vulnerable population. Caron would contact me to see how I was doing during that time. A few weeks ago, she notified me that New Castle Physical Therapy was now offering remote PT. I wasn’t sure how it would work out, but I am very pleased with the results and with the opportunity to work with Caron again. It’s amazing how helpful remote PT can be! - EB
While I’ve worked with Matt for over 10 years, for the past 4 weeks I’ve been doing so via tele-health. Although I was somewhat skeptical about it at first, I can report that it works remarkably well. I highly recommend Matt for his skill, commitment to his clients, kindness, and most of all effectiveness in addressing various physical issues. For these remote sessions, via video we’re able to have a really effective session where he can see me, and he can demonstrate things for me if I need them, very easily. It’s a great way to continue the work, as well as to connect on a personal level. I’m really glad I decided to give it a try. - LP
When my doctor told me New Castle Physical Therapy was the best place around, I was very pleased to finally find really professional and caring physical therapy. So I was dismayed when after only two visits they had to temporarily close due to the Covid-19 crisis. When Laura, my therapist suggested we try to continue with a virtual therapy session, I couldn’t quite see how it would work. We used Telehealth and I have to say, our session went smoothly and easily. We could see and hear each other just fine with my iPhone, and I only had to move it a little here and there to get the view just right. I’ve had several sessions now and they were thorough and complete. I don’t feel we skipped a beat at all, and I’m happy to continue our visits this way. - S. Pippa
I have been going to New Castle Physical Therapy on and off for a few years due to different foot and ankle injuries and have always received the best of care and exercises to get me back up and running. Caron has been insightful in assessing the physical problems and establishing a program of exercises, gradually building up my strength so I could achieve independence without medical equipment.
A recent knee injury incapacitated my mobility so I returned to Caron for assessment and an exercise program. Adhering to the exercises improved my strength and mobility and I was able to use the equipment in the office with no issues. A relapse was on the horizon when the pandemic struck, but Caron offered Telehealth/virtual sessions so I would not lose my progress and momentum.
During the Telehealth sessions, Caron has been able to demonstrate the exercises, sometimes doing them with me, and monitor my technique as well as pinpoint areas of weakness to focus on. The sessions are very easy to set up and enjoyable. I look forward to them at the end of my workday and I get the same amount of individual attention and treatment as if I were going to the office. I highly recommend utilizing the virtual session option during this difficult time so any patient does not suffer a relapse and can continue to make progress. - Jennifer Allman
I have had Telehealth physical therapy since mid-March and have been pleasantly surprised at how well it has worked for me Caron has been very attentive to all the necessary details, including how to set up the camera just right, identifying the best place in my home for our sessions, and providing me with the bands I need for the various exercises. Because of her long expertise, Caron can easily explain the exercises and has also been able to do assessments for insurance purposes. If you don’t need hands on therapy services, and don’t want to – or cannot – travel to physical therapy, I wholeheartedly endorse this method. - AS
